The multi-disciplinary team behind Imperial Formula Racing consists of close to 200 undergraduate and postgraduate students from Imperial College London, spanning the departments of Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, and many others.

At Formula Student UK 2025, Imperial Formula Racing achieved its best ever result, finishing 6th overall - 4th in the UK and 2nd among all Internal Combustion teams.
Endurance
4th out of 59 teams
The Endurance event involves teams attempting to complete 28 approximately 1 km long laps. Prior to 2025, Imperial had not completed the event in 13 years. We managed to finish 4th, competing against teams with much more experience and funding, and achieving 236.2 points out of a possible 250
Fuel Efficiency
1st out of all ICE teams
During Endurance, the fuel efficiency of all teams is recorded. Imperial Formula Racing scored 88.9 points out of a possible 100, finishing above all other teams running an internal combustion vehicle
Sprint
11th out of 59 teams
Sprint involves completing the fastest possible lap around the Endurance track. Imperial recorded a time of 60.723 seconds, scoring 73.28 points out of 100.
Skidpad
11th out of 59 teams
The Skidpad event involves completing the fastest lap around the Skidpad track, consisting of two pairs of concentric circles in a figure of eight pattern. Our best time was 5.691 seconds, scoring 21.79 points out of 70.
Acceleration
10th out of 59 teams
In Acceleration, teams compete to record the fastest time to complete 75 meters. Imperial Formula Racing recorded a time of 6.644 seconds, scoring 30.04 points out of 75.
Business Plan Presentation
7th out of 101 teams
The Business Plan Presentation event involves presenting a comprehensive business model offering a product based on our race car. Imperial scored an impressive 95.84 points out of 115, narrowly missing out on reaching the finals.
Cost and Manufacturing
14th out of 59 teams
Cost and Manufacturing consists of a discussion around the manufacturing processes, costs and greenhouse gas emissions associated with the construction of our race car. In 2025, Imperial scored 86 points out of 115.
Lap Time Simulation
14th out of 59 teams
The Lap Time Simulation event involves the use of IPG's virtual test-driving software (CarMaker) to simulate the performance of a team's race car. Imperial scored 12.375 points out of 20.
Engineering Design
14th out of 59 teams
Engineering Design evaluates our engineering process, understanding and effort that went into the design of our race car. Imperial Formula Racing scored 72 points out of 150.
